Prairie Hill Wind: Fewer Turbines. Same Energy. Greater Impact.
The Prairie Hill Wind Project's repowering is the next chapter in energy for Limestone and McLennan Counties. By upgrading existing infrastructure, we’ll deliver up to 300 MW of homegrown, reliable wind power using only 63 modern turbines to match the energy previously produced by 100. That means less visual impact, less disruption, and more efficient power generation.
As we repower the site, we’re also investing back into the community, creating jobs, enhancing local infrastructure, and supporting schools, fire departments, and future generations. This project represents a smarter, more efficient way to meet Texas’s growing energy needs while keeping our rural roots strong.
Project Impact To Date
- 300 MW of energy produced annually
- More than $200M invested in the local economy
- Well-paying, local jobs created during construction and ongoing operations
- Power purchased by Walmart stays here in Limestone and McLennan Counties
Recent Local Contributions
- $5,000 donation to Mart ISD for bus shelters
- Ongoing partnerships to support local schools, Future Farmers of America, and volunteer fire departments
- Future landowner appreciation events and community outreach are planned
The Community-First Model
The Prairie Hill Wind Project has been operating since 2020, generating enough energy to power over 60,000 households. That impact will go even further as we modernize equipment, restore land, and streamline production and operations with cutting-edge wind technology. This is the energy future — rich agricultural heritage meets modern wind energy technology.
